Sunday 27 June 2010

It has just occurred to me that this could be the perfect time to post this photograph and introduce Ryantown's first ( and probably last ) CAPTION COMPETITION.
Taken at the Ryantoon opening last October, we can see Ref Rob about to pull out the red card.... Sunday's World Cup events must have given you plenty of material, so post a comment or email me at ryantownshop@googlemail.com
The winner will receive a Ryantown goodie bag.
...what can one say. If you were looking for style, inspiration and downright class, then you really shouldn't have bothered watching England play this afternoon. You should have been at Ryantown, where we have all those attributes! and more!! No bitter complaints, humiliation and resigned disappointment, only joy!! And it was particularly joyful for us as we celebrate our 2nd Ryantown birthday this week.

Can you believe it, Ryantown will be 2 YEARS OLD this weekend!! Thank you from all of us to everyone who has visited the shop.... and visited again....and again! It's been a real pleasure to meet you all, so please do keep stopping by. And of course big thanks to all those far, far away who aren't able to visit in person but still keep in touch. 'These same stars and this same sky hang over both you and I'... Rob has produced this lovely new print to celebrate our 2nd anniversary.

We have another new print for you at Ryantown. You might recognise this image from an earlier post in April when we had the paper cut in the shop. It was a favourite of many visitors who were always taken aback by the intricacy and moved by the beauty of it. Called ' We Had Everything ' , it does indeed have everything that is most loved by admirer's of Rob's work.

Not old, but new. Not borrowed, but blue. Brand new into the shop are these hand screen printed cotton hankies. A collaboration between Rob and the Notting Hill based Two Birds Bridesmaid , these hankies would make a beautiful gift from bride to bridesmaid, or bridesmaid to bride. Actually, why discriminate... it's a lovely gift to give whichever friend you love. Available at Ryantown this weekend complete with a screen printed box, they cost £30 each.

Sunday was a very typical British summers day. Wind, rain, ominous clouds, oh and a bit of sun right at the end of the day. Good job we had these little rays of sunshine in the shop to cheer me up. Rob's cards have always been popular. These are new and particularly lovely, and are all hand screen printed at the studio. A little bit of love to share for only £3.

Hardly a week goes by without some kind of filming or photo shoot activity happening along Columbia Road. Last Friday there was a fashion shoot and this gorgeous vintage Airstream Motorhome was parked opposite Ryantown. I spent most of the afternoon fantasizing about being driven along the Californian coast in one of these. Or anywhere warm right now.
